FACULTY
The IAAA (Institute for the Advancement of Aural Arts) is an international visiting group of seven musicians and educators who present concerts, masterclasses and workshops based on the most advanced musical thinking on a worldwide basis. The seven are also engaged in groundbreaking research projects, and the outputs –their collective knowledge base - is available to the wider academic community in published form, as well as verbally – in the form of presentations, lectures, demonstrations, and seminars – by invitation.
As well as our worldwide call for students, we invite the interest of host institutions, and collaborative research proposals in our areas of interest. Ours is a rolling program of events, geographically grouped on a month-to-month basis. We accept bookings between 3 and 12 months in advance, and our pricing policy is very reasonable, usually covering expenses only, as our operations are ideally supported by arts funding. Any additional bookings are welcome and where possible will be added into our schedule. The IAAA will receive funding and donations from various sources, but is also reliant on the support for its introductory events and workshops from host institutions.

Antonio Quijano - Electric bassist, composer, theorist. Author of a 1,258 book compilation, the Secessionist Method
of Composition Encyclopedia which discuses the dozens of theories he has developed over the years. Composer of more than 150,000
pieces of music and creator of the 2:1 technique for stringed instruments. He has lectured at major universities as an independent
cultural researcher, writer, and theorist and is a pioneer in posthuman music and new music theory.

Edgar Abraham - Saxophonist, composer, multi-instrumentalist. Creator of a hyper-virtuosic technique for the saxophone
and a master of sixteen instruments. His prodigious musicianship spans every area of the art form, from symphonic composition to avant-garde
jazz improvisation.

Ron Sword - Electric guitarist, composer, theorist, master luthier. Specialist in altered tunings, experimental intonation
and xenharmonic/microtonal music. His instrument creations include guitars and basses in several temperaments with unusual string configurations.
Author of "Tricesimoprimal Scales for Guitar" and "Creative Applications for Polyscales" among seven other books on alternative tunings for guitars.

Guido Wyss - Percussionist, Teacher, Composer. As the newest addition to the IAAA faculty of clinicians and teachers, Wyss contributes in the area of hyper-virtuosity. His technique and drum philosophy pushes the aesthetic boundaries of what is possible through interdependance and use of both acoustic and electronic drums. He currently runs two conservatories for drumming and percussion instruction in Switzerland.
